…some interesting horses making the list, while some major contenders still have work to do

The time for the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission-sponsored Diamond Mile, the richest race in local racing, is drawing nigh. This year's edition is set for Saturday, December 1 at Caymanas Park.
Leading the list of money earners up to Sunday, August 26, 2018 are the two automatic qualifiers, Drone Strike winner of the Derby and She's A Maneater, the defending champion who has made her unwanted and unwarranted qualifying marks quite easily.
The ever-consistent three-year-old Marquesas, winner of the St Leger, tops the list of actual earners with over $4 million. Oaks heroine Fayrouz seems almost certain to be in the Diamond Mile, if this is the wish of the connections, having already earned over $3.5 million in the racing year thus far.
The much improved and ultra-consistent Another Bullet, from the camp of in-form trainer Patrick Wacky Lynch with earnings close to $3 million, is almost certain to have a Diamond Mile starting stall at his disposal.
Will In Charge, now among the two best in the land, occupies the seventh slot on the earning list with $2.2 million.
The top 10 list of earners for the Diamond Mile is completed by Mr Universe, Money Magnet and Siempre Bueno.
Notably missing from the list so far is the Diamond Mile runner-up for the last two years, Bigdaddykool who, to say the least, has been having a challenging season. Bigdaddykool can still make it to the lucrative gathering on December 1, as there is still the Superstakes and the Caymanas Invitational Mile to come. The winners of both these races are guaranteed automatic entry in the Diamond Mile.
Of special note also is that the winner of the first two Diamond Mile races, Seeking My Dream, is way down the list in position number 23.
