12 J'cans named in Americas team for IAAF Continental Cup

A total of 12 Jamaicans, including five Commonwealth Games champions, two former World Championships gold medallists, as well as two IAAF World Cup champions, have been named in the Americas team for the IAAF Continental Cup to be held in Ostrava, Czech Republic from September 8-9.
The athletes, who will be competing against three other continental teams, will be aiming to collect team points and individual prizes in their respective events which will be straight finals.
Seven women and five men from Jamaica are named in the team.
Commonwealth Games champions Stephenie-Ann McPherson will contest the women's 400m, Aisha Praught-Leer will be on show in the 3,000m steeplechase and Daniel Thomas-Dodd in the shot put. World Cup winner Shericka Jackson will contest the 200m and was named in the 4x100m relay pool; Natoya Goule will contest the 800m and Danielle Williams the 100m hurdles, while Janieve Russell will represent in the 400m hurdles.
World Leader and Commonwealth Games discus champion Fedric Dacres leads the Jamaican men along with Ronald Levy, who won the Commonwealth Games 110m hurdles while former World Championships gold medallist Yohan Blake will contest the short sprint. Andre Clarke is named for the 400m hurdles, while World Cup 100m champion Tyquendo Tracey is a part of the 4x100m relay pool.
